Eric Acuña earned his BFA with a focus in Expanded Media studies from Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas. He is currently a master’s student, studying as a research assistant for New Media at the University of Texas in San Antonio.
He is interested in kinetic energy, electronic sound, or anything that transmits frequency. In his studio, he experiments with tracing out the rhythm of movement from an array of explorations and reflections that are shaped by his curiosity and passion for innovation.
His research investigates light phenomena in soft materials through a multidisciplinary practice that includes installations, field recordings, and sculpture. Using electronics, sensors, material science, and techniques of reverse engineering, He creates responsive systems that examine the dynamics of perception and the ecological entanglements of sensory experience. This work draws from and weaves together diverse knowledge systems—scientific, cultural, and Indigenous—approaching technology not only as a tool but as a language for reimagining how we understand and inhabit the world.
