STates of flux
January 19 – April 11
Natural and artificial. Physical and virtual. Imagined and real. Private and public. Speaker and receiver. Thinking in terms of binary oppositions, though common, seems distinctly unnatural to human behavior, which is more dynamic than static or fixed.
States of Flux visualizes how these dichotomies are increasingly being blurred and dismantled in the work of four artists: Daniel Gray, Sarah Knobel, Jonathan McFadden, and Bobby Scheidemann, all of whom are also graduates of the School of Art and Design at Texas State University. Together their works tackle the tension between such oppositions, and represent the spectrum of intermittent rhythms between them.
States of Flux is curated by Caroline Frost, a senior art history student at Texas State University and Summer 2019 Texas State Galleries Intern.
