Happy New Year, TXST Galleries Friends!
Since joining Texas State as Director in May 2025, I have been focused on listening—engaging in ongoing conversations with our faculty, staff, and community members. These dialogues are essential to my vision for TXST Galleries as a dynamic, student-centered hub for cross-disciplinary inquiry.
As we begin 2026, I am honored to lead TXST Galleries into a new chapter building on its foundation of dialogue, inquiry, and enduring community engagement.
The Galleries are a space of common ground—where art history, art education, communication design, and studio practices intersect. My work as a scholar and curator reflects this approach, exploring global contexts of modern and contemporary art and the movement of ideas across cultures. I am currently adapting my doctoral dissertation into a monograph, which continues to inform my vision for spirited and engaging gallery programming.
As a small, dedicated team of two (with the vital support of our student workers!), our focus is on high-impact collaboration. I am eager to serve as a resource for those interested in integrating the Galleries’ exhibitions, programs, and collections into research, teaching, creative work, and everyday life at Texas State and beyond.
The Galleries are a space for dialogue—for asking questions, pushing boundaries, and exploring perspectives together. Whether you are a long-time supporter or a first-time visitor, I look forward to meeting you and growing alongside you this spring!
My deepest thanks for warmly welcoming me to the neighborhood—here’s to another art-fueled year!
With appreciation,
Dr. Sarah E. Kleinman
